Los Angeles has been the host of countless counter cultural movements. Simultaneously Los Angeles has befallen to consumerist architecture. The boulevard, the backbone of the city (culturally and economically), has been designed with the intent to sell. In Venice, where absurd development narratives and various counter cultures have led to little development and increased housing shortage, the stagnating neighbourhood needs to be jostled awake with the same verve that it once had. Cultural growth and densification will happen simultaneously, Venice will have to make room for a voice to be heard beyond the boardwalk.
